Marguerite’s Academy of Dance is owned and operated by Marguerite Timko-Kinney and was established in 1990.

Marguerite brings with her over 45 years of teaching experience. Marguerite owned and operated a school in Bowling Green, KY and presently operates schools in the tri-state area.  Marguerite began her training at age three under Marge Long.  As a young performer, she also choreographed and taught at two leading universities. Marguerite has been on the faculty of Dance Educators of America, Christopher National Dance Teacher Seminars and the Preparatory Academy of Performing Arts with such notables as Robert Christopher, Patsy Swayze, Ben Vereen, Bob Fosse, and Gus Giordano.  She developed curriculum for teaching dance to special education students and is licensed to teach dance in the public school system in Pennsylvania.

Marguerite’s Academy of Dance faculty members have many years of teaching and performing experience and are eminently qualified instructors.  Training and credentials of the teaching faculty includes: national certifications from such notables as Dance Educators of America, Dance Masters of America, and Christopher National Dance Teacher Seminars; Bachelors of Fine Arts Dance; and work in professional arenas internationally.  All teaching faculty members are under the direct supervision of Marguerite – ensuring a family friendly atmosphere while instilling professionalism and the very best in dance education.

Dance training is a long and rewarding process and there are no short cuts.  The physical and psychological demands of the art dictate the process. It takes time, patience, training and hard work to achieve excellence.  As in all art forms, discipline is key. Discipline and positive work ethics will serve our students well in any path they choose.

The highlight of each dance season is the annual – professionally organized – dance concert at Erie’s landmark Warner Theatre.  This performance enables each student to proudly showcase the techniques, skills, and talent developed and strengthened throughout the year.  The two-night dance concert is also an opportunity for family and friends to join their loved ones in a memorable night of music and dance.

In September 2000, Marguerite’s Dance Company was one of twenty-three dance groups invited to perform for the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.  The opportunity to entertain at such a prominent international event was a regarded honor.

In September 2009, Marguerite’s Dance Company was invited to perform at the Mazer Theatre in New York, NY.  The dance company’s three nights of performances at the Off-Broadway theatre received enthused reviews. Grand Street News, a local New York weekly, praised the “well trained and exhibiting gymnastic and dance feats that were stunning.”

Marguerite's Dance Company returned to New York City in July 2017 on the invite of INTAGLIO Productions attending their inaugural 7/19 Event.  Company members took to the floor studying with nationally renowned teachers Rhonda Malkin, Richard Chen See, and Lloyd Culbreath.  In addition, the company headlined a special performance at the Educational Alliance Sirovich Auditorium—providing our dancers a unique opportunity to perform at a leading arts and cultural institution in the dance capital of the world!

Marguerite Timko-Kinney choreographed a special presentation of the original musical The Storm, held inside the historic Roosevelt Hotel Ballroom in New York City on July 19, 2019.  The presentation included musical selections and dance numbers from the show, and featured Dancing With The Stars winner Sharna Burness and Two Time Tony Award Nominee Alison Fraser.  Also in the cast was pop sensation Frankie Zulferino.  The Storm is currently in development for the Broadway stage.
